What If the Answer Isn't More?

What if you don't need to become more? Linda Bucher Master Certified Life Coach Buffalo NY

A lot of us spend years trying to become more of something: More confident, more clear, more ready, and more sure of ourselves.

We put a lot of pressure on ourselves to figure it out, fix what needs fixing, and become the version of ourselves we think we need to be before we move forward with the thing that’s calling us.

And for a long time, I thought that made sense. If I could just become more ready, more accomplished, and more certain, then I’d know what to do. I’d feel better. And I’d finally feel like myself.

Except it doesn’t work that way. The growth that mattered most in my own life didn’t come from adding more or trying harder or finally finding the perfect answer, it came (and continues to come) from releasing.

Releasing old expectations, identities that never actually fit, and ways of being that made sense at one point in life but don't anymore. Letting go of beliefs about who we should be, what makes us valuable, and what it takes to belong.

A lot of us don’t realize how much of ourselves we’ve shaped around fitting in, being responsible, doing what needs to be done, keeping things moving, and trying to be what everyone around us seems to need. And over time we get way out of balance because we’re listening to every outside voice except our own.

We get so practiced at being the version of ourselves that manages everything well that we can lose touch with our Essential Self – the part of us that is curious, playful, and drawn toward what lights us up, never fretting over whether we’re doing it the right way or who’s judging us.

Your Essential Self is your inner GPS and what I think about when I hear the word untamed.

  • Untamed in the sense of trusting what feels true for you, even if it doesn’t look like the path someone else would choose.

  • Untamed in the sense of remembering you don’t need to earn permission to be fully yourself.

  • Untamed in the sense of loosening your grip on old shoulds and who you were taught to be.

  • Untamed in the sense of coming back to yourself.

Creating a life that feels aligned and deeply impactful begins with giving yourself permission to be who you are, trusting your own inner GPS (even if you can only see the next few feet of the path), and being willing to stop and ask yourself:

  • Who am I now?

  • What do I really want?

  • What’s gotta go?

Those questions don't always have immediate answers. But asking them can change the direction of a life.

All of this, and more, is part of the conversation I had with Lauri Smith in a recent episode on my Conversations Worth Your While™ podcast. It was a beautiful conversation, and I think you’ll enjoy it.

Untame Your Presence, Expand Your Impact

At the end of the episode you’ll hear about a very simple practice I love. Before an important conversation, ask yourself what your intention is and how you’d love to feel when it’s over. Peaceful? Connected? Proud of how you showed up? Then pause and invite that feeling in before you walk into the room. Wear it like a cozy coat. It’s amazing how often the conversation itself begins to meet you there.

Warmly,
Linda

P.S. If you’d love to shed what no longer fits, reconnect to your gifts, and create a life that is fully aligned and deeply impactful, I offer a complimentary Clarity Session. We can slow things down, look at what’s going on, and explore what might be trying to emerge for you underneath it all. These conversations are simply a space for support, perspective, and clarity, with no pressure or expectation attached. You can find a time with me here.
